Raising Mindful Children: Movement and Mindfulness

Key Points About Our Chat

  • Flow Form helps kids move their body when practicing mindfulness and meditation, it is a therapeutic movement that will help improve your well being. It was developed as a result of Elizabeth’s experiences with yoga, tai chi, and qigong.

  • Recommend parents practice a few minutes of mindful breath every day, and before bed; this will help you be consistent with your children. Kids generally prefer mindfulness activities to be short in duration, so mindful breath, or mindful brushing of teeth, can be practiced for a short duration. Goal is to ensure kids really enjoy mindful practices, go slow and be sensible.

  • Practicing mindful eating with your children also helps them develop mindfulness. The experience of taste, feeling satisfied, eating because you’re hungry, why we crave certain foods, being conscious about nutrition, growing your own food, etc.
